Job Title: Assistant Professor, Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic leader to join our team as an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies at the University of Ottawa. The successful candidate will have a strong research program and/or potential, and a commitment to participating in the administrative activities of the unit and the Faculty.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Supervision of graduate students
  • Research and community service
  • Participating in the administrative activities of the unit and the Faculty
Requirements:
  • PhD in Indigenous Studies, Gender and Women's Studies, or a related field
  • Expertise in one (or more) of the following areas: Indigenous resistance and/or resurgence; two-spirit and queer studies; decolonial and anti-colonial critiques; and/or transnational perspectives
  • Demonstration of an established and innovative research program, or one that demonstrates potential for excellence through a record of refereed publications or other forms of knowledge mobilization
  • The ability, or potential, to raise external funds and/or to develop co-creative projects with non-academic communities, organizations or other stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to applicants whose research and teaching praxes reflect an existing and ongoing relationship to legally recognized and inherent Indigenous nations, communities and/or organizations
