Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Academic Leader in Anthropology and African Studies to join our team at the University of Ottawa. As a Tenure-Track Professor in Social and Cultural Anthropology, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students, conducting research, and contributing to the development of our African studies program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop courses in social and cultural anthropology, with a focus on African studies
  • Conduct research and publish scholarly articles in top-tier journals
  • Supervise and mentor graduate students in their research projects
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with African institutions and communities
  • Contribute to the development of our African studies program, including curriculum design and implementation
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Social and Cultural Anthropology or a related field
  • Expertise in ethnographic methods and current anthropological theories
  • Experience in developing long-term relationships with communities in Africa or its diasporas
  • Strong teaching and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work in both official languages of the University of Ottawa
