The Hamilton Health Sciences organization is dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to patients and their families.

As a pivotal part of our healthcare team, the Business Clerk plays a crucial role in delivering administrative and clerical assistance to ensure smooth operations within the medical environment.

Position Overview
The Business Clerk is responsible for offering comprehensive clerical and administrative support to patients, families, and healthcare providers. This role encompasses a variety of functions aligned with the responsibilities of Business Clerks.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide clerical support to the healthcare team.
2. Assist in the management of patient records and documentation.
3. Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare professionals.
4. Utilize medical software and tools effectively.
5. Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information.

Work Schedule:
Flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications:
1. Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
2. Graduate of a community college secretarial or office administration program or equivalent experience.
3. Preferred experience in an Emergency Department setting.
4. Knowledge of Medical Terminology equivalent to Certificate 1 and 2.
5. Proficient keyboarding skills at a minimum of 40 wpm.
6. Familiarity with Meditech, MS Exchange, and MS Word.
7. Basic mathematical skills for patient billing processes.
8. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
9. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
10. Capability to collaborate with various hospital departments.
11. Understanding of the confidential nature of the role.
12. Ability to perform tasks requiring prolonged sitting and repetitive movements.
13. Adaptability to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
