Director, Accounting Policies - PSP

Role Overview:

  • Conduct thorough reviews, research, and documentation of emerging International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and present findings for implementation.
  • Lead, coordinate, and mentor team members and external consultants in the analysis of accounting policies.
  • Facilitate training sessions on pertinent topics for internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee technical evaluations of financial statements and manage external reporting for the Canada Growth Fund.
  • Examine investment transactions and recommend suitable accounting treatments.
  • Serve as the in-house authority on accounting reporting.
  • Respond to ad hoc inquiries from business units and communicate the implications of findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Design and uphold accounting and reporting protocols.
  • Develop a collaborative network with external counterparts for benchmarking purposes.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS, especially regarding financial instruments and fair value assessments.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing financial statements and management reports.
  • Capability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts.
  • Strong drive, results-oriented approach, and client-focused mindset.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Proactive, inquisitive, and detail-oriented.
  • Team-oriented, enthusiastic about learning, and willing to challenge existing practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA or Auditor designation.
  • A minimum of fifteen years of experience in financial accounting.
  • Experience in researching and documenting accounting matters.
  • Bilingual proficiency with exceptional English language skills.
