ROLE OVERVIEW
- Conduct thorough reviews and documentation of new International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), presenting findings to senior management for implementation alongside internal stakeholders.
- Supervise and guide team members and external consultants in their accounting policy evaluations.
- Provide training sessions for internal clients on pertinent accounting policy topics.
- Oversee the technical reviews of financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and collaborating with senior management on potential enhancements.
- Lead the external financial reporting processes and prepare all necessary documentation.
- Analyze intricate investment transactions to determine appropriate accounting treatments, suggesting modifications to agreements for favorable outcomes.
- Serve as the in-house authority on accounting reporting for the organization.
- Address ad hoc inquiries from business units, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of operational needs through stakeholder engagement.
- Present findings to internal clients and senior management regarding the implications of changes in accounting standards or business unit analyses.
- Represent the Accounting Policies Group in technical discussions with auditors regarding accounting and reporting matters.
- Design and maintain efficient accounting and reporting processes, optimizing team resources.
- Develop a deep understanding of the organization’s business and investments to identify transactions with accounting implications.
- Establish a network with external peers to facilitate benchmarking and market convention insights.
- Document accounting issues, analyses, and conclusions through position papers and memos.
QUALIFICATIONS
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS, particularly concerning financial instruments and fair value.
- Proven experience in drafting financial statement notes and external management reports.
- Ability to quickly assimilate complex technical information.
- Initiative in proposing solutions to accounting challenges.
- Results-driven with a client-focused approach.
- Capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment with autonomy.
- Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex accounting concepts to non-technical audiences.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Auditor designation.
- At least fifteen years of recent experience in financial accounting for publicly accountable enterprises, with significant exposure to complex accounting issues.
- Experience in researching and documenting accounting issues in relation to relevant standards.
- Bilingual proficiency with strong English language skills for reporting and communication.
