Licensed Pharmacy Technician

Position Overview:
The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in supporting the pharmacy operations at The Royal Mental Health Centre. This position encompasses a variety of essential duties aimed at ensuring the safe and effective distribution of medications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute all Pharmacy Technician functions as outlined in the NAPRA Standards of Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.
- Proficiently utilize pharmacy management software including Meditech and Kroll, as well as automated dispensing systems such as Omnicell XT.
- Engage in the medication distribution process and provide necessary support to pharmacy operations.
- Participate actively in Medication Reconciliation initiatives.
- Handle the packaging and delivery of pharmaceutical products to various care units, which may involve lifting boxes weighing between 1 to 20 lbs.
- Ensure proper packaging, preparation, and timely shipment of pharmaceutical products.
- Communicate quality and performance standards to fellow team members.
- Maintain accurate documentation and flow of prescription distribution at all times.
- Implement quality control measures and communicate any concerns regarding quality to pharmacy teams and partners.
- Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Adhere to established procedures and guidelines in accordance with pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.
- Be accountable for the precise and timely execution of daily responsibilities.
- Work in compliance with safety practices and policies to ensure a secure environment for staff and patients.
- Foster a workplace that aligns with The Royal's Harassment-Free Workplace policy.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Mandatory registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
- Previous experience in a hospital setting is advantageous.
- Proficient in pharmaceutical calculations.
- Familiarity with common healthcare terminology.
- Exhibit a professional demeanor, integrity, and reliability.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Customer-service oriented mindset.
- Knowledge of pharmacy law, ethics, and privacy regulations.
- Completion of standard training upon hire, including pharmacy systems and relevant technologies.
- Basic inventory management skills related to storage and security.
- English proficiency at level A- is required in oral comprehension, expression, reading, and writing; bilingualism in French is considered an asset.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is between $31.38 and $36.17 per hour.
