Position Overview:

The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare system, ensuring the safe and effective distribution of medications. This position involves a variety of responsibilities that support the overall operations of the pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute all Pharmacy Technician duties as outlined in the NAPRA Standards of Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Utilize pharmacy management software such as Meditech and Kroll, along with Omnicell XT and OCRA systems, to facilitate medication dispensing.
  • Engage in the medication distribution process and provide essential support to pharmacy operations.
  • Contribute to Medication Reconciliation Activities to ensure accuracy in patient medication records.
  • Package and deliver pharmaceutical products to various care units or facilities, which may involve lifting boxes weighing between 1 to 20 lbs.
  • Prepare and ensure the timely shipment of pharmaceutical products as required.
  • Communicate performance and quality standards to pharmacy team members effectively.
  • Maintain proper documentation and flow of prescription distribution at all times.
  • Implement quality control measures and communicate any potential quality issues to pharmacy teams and facility partners.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Adhere to established procedures and guidelines in compliance with pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of daily responsibilities.
  • Work in alignment with safety practices and policies to maintain a secure environment for staff and patients.
  • Foster a workplace culture that aligns with the organization's Harassment-Free Workplace policy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Mandatory registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
  • Previous experience in a hospital setting is advantageous.
  • Proficient in pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Familiarity with healthcare terminology is required.
  • Demonstrate a professional demeanor, reliability, and integrity.
  • Possess strong communication abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
  • Customer-service oriented approach.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy law, ethics, and privacy regulations.
  • Completion of standard training upon hire, including pharmacy systems and relevant technologies.
  • Basic inventory management skills related to storage and legal compliance.
  • English proficiency at level A- is required in oral and written communication; bilingualism in French is an asset.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is between $31.38 and $36.17 per hour.
