Role Overview

The Funding Commissioner plays a vital role in supporting the Vice-President (Finance) in overseeing the Funding Committee's operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with the Vice-President (Finance) to manage the SSMU Funding application process; Provide guidance and support to SSMU members and student organizations regarding funding applications, including responding to inquiries and occasionally meeting with applicants; Ensure that all funding-related information on the SSMU website is current and accurate; Create and maintain resources to assist student organizations in preparing funding applications; Evaluate all submitted funding requests and prepare summaries for presentation to the Funding Committee; Lead the SSMU Funding Committee by preparing agendas, facilitating meetings, documenting decisions, and reporting to the Legislative Council; Deliver bi-weekly reports to the SSMU Legislative Council regarding the Funding Committee's decisions for ratification; Keep detailed records of all applications, approvals, denials, and disbursements; Propose amendments to the SSMU by-laws for the Funding Committee as requested by the Vice-President (Finance); Ensure compliance with SSMU Internal Regulations in the disbursement of approximately $350,000 annually across eight funds, maintaining budgetary limits.

Required Qualifications

Basic knowledge of accounting principles; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite; Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; Strong communication abilities in both English and French are advantageous.

Compensation: $15.95/hour Average Work Hours: 7 hours per week; Contract Duration: November 27, 2023 to May 31, 2024; Application Deadline: November 6, 2023
