Position: Junior Liability Claims Adjuster - Full-Time Permanent

This position entails the investigation and adjustment of low to moderate general liability claims, such as bodily injury and slip and fall incidents.

The ideal candidate will deliver SCM's standard of quality service and facilitate prompt and fair resolution of claims in accordance with corporate policies and standards, while also identifying and pursuing business development opportunities.

  • Ability to interpret policy coverage accurately.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to draw sound conclusions and communicate them clearly.
  • Proactive and positive customer service approach, ensuring timely resolution of inquiries.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, negotiate, and resolve liability claims.
  • Conduct field investigations as necessary for exposure within account guidelines.
  • Initiate contact as per account protocols.
  • Report findings to clients in accordance with account guidelines.
  • Identify liability exposures, recommend reserves, and outline necessary investigations, while preparing action plans and negotiating settlements.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients and insured parties.

Education, Knowledge, and Experience Required:

  • A university degree or relevant post-secondary education in insurance.
  • Must be licensed in all provinces except Quebec, having completed several CIP courses; preference given to candidates with CIP designation.
  • Ideal candidates should possess 1-2 years of experience in liability claims, such as slip/trip and fall cases; experience with represented claimants is a plus.
