Durham College is on the lookout for a skilled and passionate individual to join our academic team as a part-time instructor in Technical Artistry. This role is crucial in shaping the future of students in the Faculty of Media, Art & Design.

Role Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Fostering an inclusive learning environment that respects and accommodates diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
  • Employing adult education principles to actively engage students in their learning journey.
  • Utilizing educational technologies to enhance learning, manage grades, and deliver hybrid and online courses.
  • Designing curriculum that incorporates effective strategies and tools for assessing student performance.
  • Ensuring the relevance and currency of course materials and program curriculum.
  • Demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently.
  • Collaborating effectively with students, program teams, and various stakeholders.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A relevant diploma (a Master’s degree is preferred) and a professional designation is an asset.
  • A minimum of five years of recent and pertinent work experience.
  • Experience in teaching at the post-secondary level, with a solid understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and contemporary assessment methods.
  • Participation in industry-led or community-based applied research is advantageous.
  • A commitment to prioritizing the student experience.
  • Proficiency in current technologies that support student learning and grade management.
  • A proven history of lifelong learning.
  • The ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including students, faculty, and community partners.
  • An understanding of the Ontario college system.
