Position Overview:Durham College is in search of a skilled and enthusiastic professional who shares our dedication to quality education and student achievement. The Faculty of Media, Art & Design is looking for a part-time professor to instruct in Technical Artistry. This course focuses on the unique role of a Technical Artist within the gaming industry, serving as a vital support across various artistic disciplines. Students will explore and implement advanced techniques relevant to their specific areas of study while working on concurrent projects. This course is designed to provide applied support for third-year students during the Fall semester.
Key Responsibilities:- Fostering an inclusive learning environment that respects students' diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
- Applying adult education principles to actively engage students in their learning journey.
- Utilizing educational technologies to enhance learning, manage grades, and deliver hybrid and online courses.
- Developing relevant curriculum that incorporates effective assessment strategies.
- Ensuring that course content remains current and aligned with industry standards.
- Demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently.
- Collaborating effectively with students, program teams, and various stakeholders.
- A relevant diploma (a Master's degree is preferred), with professional designation considered an asset.
- A minimum of five years of recent and pertinent work experience.
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level, with a solid understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and contemporary assessment methods.
- Participation in industry-led or community-based applied research is advantageous.
- A commitment to prioritizing the student experience.
- Proficiency in using current technologies to facilitate student learning and grade management.
- A proven history of lifelong learning.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with the Ontario college system.
