Key Responsibilities:
The primary duty of the selected candidate is to design and deliver a theoretically and methodologically robust course at the university level, adhering to the outlined course objectives. In alignment with a technology-driven educational framework, the Adjunct Instructor will employ a variety of inclusive teaching methodologies and assessment strategies to facilitate learning.
The Adjunct Instructor will be responsible for preparing, presenting, and evaluating all course materials and assignments, as well as providing support and guidance to students throughout the course duration.
This role is part of the collective bargaining unit represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and will be governed by the terms and conditions set forth in the collective agreement between the institution and PSAC. Candidates must confirm their legal eligibility to work in Canada for the entire contract period.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of effective teaching, demonstrating a strong aptitude for educational delivery at the pre-service and/or K-12 levels.
Essential Skills:
The successful applicant will exhibit a strong potential for impactful teaching, showcasing:
- Evidence of successful integration of planning, instruction, assessment, and the cultivation of learning communities;
- Proficiency in incorporating digital technologies into instructional practices;
- A solid understanding of curricular and pedagogical design, educational research, and assessment that utilizes various digital tools;
- A commitment to innovative and inclusive teaching methodologies;
- The ability to critically reflect on and adapt professional practices as necessary;
- Strong collaborative skills and effective communication abilities to maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, and students;
- Teaching practices that encourage reflection, critical thinking, creativity, innovation, problem-solving, and independence;
- Openness to diverse perspectives in teaching and learning;
- Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Ontario's special education programs, with an emphasis on evidence-based practices to support affected children and youth;
- Understanding of the developmental journey of beginning teachers.
Educational Background:
- A Master's degree in education, focusing on psychology, special education, or a related field is required;
- Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers is advantageous;
- A PhD is considered an asset.
Experience Requirements:
- Demonstrated success in teaching at the pre-service and/or K-12 levels;
- Effective use of technology as purposeful teaching tools in the classroom;
- Evidence-based, research-informed teaching practices;
- Experience with learning management systems and fully online educational platforms;
- Success in fostering collaborative learning environments.
