Accounts Payable Team Lead

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounts Payable Team Lead to join our Southern Ontario team. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions, and managing a team of accounts payable specialists.
Key Responsibilities- Team Management: Lead and manage a team of accounts payable specialists, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Transaction Processing: Review and process accounts payable transactions with accuracy and timeliness, ensuring proper procedures are followed and deadlines are met.
- Vendor Management: Oversee vendor accounts, including monthly reconciliations and responding to vendor inquiries promptly.
- Invoice Handling: Accurately match and post invoices using automated AP platforms, obtaining necessary approvals before posting or payment.
- Expense Posting: Post employee expenses and review coding and taxes for accuracy.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Address and resolve any discrepancies related to invoices or payments.
- Payment Processing: Ensure all payments are made by the due date, preparing weekly cash requirements for EFT, cheque, and online bill payments.
- Communication: Communicate with vendors and internal customers to correct and modify invoices or payments as necessary.
- Reporting & Reconciliation: Process various reports, audits, and reconciliations, including the creation of ad hoc reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

- University/College Degree: A degree in a related field, including knowledge and understanding of basic accounting concepts.
- Accounts Payable Certification: Preferred, but not required.
- Minimum 5 Years of Experience: In accounts payable, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Construction Sector Experience: Preferred, but not required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills: Required.
- Strong Analytical and Organizational Skills: Essential.
- JD Edwards Knowledge: Preferred, but not required.
- Criminal Background Check: Required.
