Senior Public Health Manager

The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the Safe Communities program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to promote environmental health, prevent injuries, and prepare for emergencies in our region.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public health, environmental health, and emergency preparedness, with experience in project management, leadership, and team supervision. You will be responsible for overseeing the regional services provided by the Safe Communities team and working with communities to enhance their capacity around Safe Communities initiatives.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build relationships with community members, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders. You will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, and standards for Safe Communities, as well as providing guidance and support to staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to promote environmental health, prevent injuries, and prepare for emergencies in our region.
- Oversee the regional services provided by the Safe Communities team and work with communities to enhance their capacity around Safe Communities initiatives.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards for Safe Communities.
- Provide guidance and support to staff, including training and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with community members, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to build relationships and promote Safe Communities initiatives.
- Develop and manage budgets and financial reports, as well as prepare funding proposals and reports.
- Represent the organization in various settings, including internal and external meetings, committees, and conferences.
- Network and coordinate activities with other organizations working in Safe Communities in the Sioux Lookout region.
- Support research initiatives around Safe Communities issues.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in a health-related field, such as public health, environmental health, or emergency management.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in public health, environmental health, or emergency preparedness, with experience in project management, leadership, and team supervision.
- Strong background in policy development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships with community members, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Valid Ontario G driver's license.
- Ability to travel to remote fly-in communities and relocate to Sioux Lookout.
