Director of Community Health Initiatives

Position Overview:
The Director of Community Health Initiatives will spearhead efforts to ensure that program goals are achieved through comprehensive planning, development, execution, effective service delivery, collaboration, and evaluation of program activities. This role will oversee the management of personnel and consultants.
The Director of Community Health Initiatives will report directly to the Senior Director of Community Health.
Required Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to individuals of First Nations heritage (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment)
- A Bachelor's Degree in a health-related discipline, with a focus on Public Health or Health Administration; relevant work experience may be considered at the employer's discretion
- A minimum of 3 years of direct experience in project management, encompassing all facets of process development and execution
- Project management certification is preferred
- 3 years of experience in staff management, with relevant certification preferred
- A valid Ontario G driver's license
- Capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position consistently
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the implementation of Community Health Initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Director and Public Health Physician to deliver Community Health services to various communities.
- In partnership with the Senior Director, provide guidance and oversight to staff and consultants in alignment with program objectives, productivity expectations, and organizational policies.
- Oversee operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities.
- At the direction of the Senior Director, engage with leadership, frontline staff, healthcare providers, and other service personnel in communities to collaboratively address priority public health and community wellbeing issues.
- Participate in relevant Community Health working groups or advisory committees.
- Mentor, counsel, and evaluate employee performance.
- Manage the preparation, maintenance, and submission of correspondence, program reports, and briefing notes as directed by the Senior Director.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director and Managers to design, develop, and implement systems that effectively achieve program goals.
- Work with Human Resources to recruit, interview, select, and onboard suitable candidates to strengthen Community Health Initiatives.
- Advise on program development and outreach.
- Alongside the Senior Director, facilitate service delivery to enhance community capacity in addressing priority issues.
- Lead and coordinate training and educational initiatives for all communities.
- Provide support as needed and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
