Sioux Lookout, Canada Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority Full time
Project Manager Mental Health and Addictions Task Force

The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) is committed to improving the health framework for its member First Nations. Following directives from Chiefs-In-Assembly, SLFNHA has been tasked with creating a regional, all-encompassing strategy for mental health and addictions. Previous resolutions have included a Comprehensive Addictions Strategy and a Youth Mental Health Strategy. Recently, a resolution was passed to declare a Public Health Emergency and Social Crisis concerning Mental Health and Addictions in the Sioux Lookout area, leading to the establishment of a Mental Health and Addictions Task Force (MHATF).

SLFNHA has conducted a thorough review of Mental Health and Addictions, facilitated by an external consulting team. This comprehensive review included literature analysis, document assessments, and extensive community engagement through visits, focus groups, surveys, and interviews. The final report, which was completed in November 2022, provided key findings and recommendations for a cohesive Mental Health and Addictions System, culminating in a report that outlined a Model for Mental Wellbeing in Communities.

Position Overview:

The Project Manager will oversee the implementation of the recommendations from the Mental Health and Addictions Review Final Report, the Model for Mental Wellbeing in Communities, and the Health Status report on Mental Health and Substance Use.

The Project Manager will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer of SLFNHA and will serve as the primary contact for the MHATF, offering regular updates and receiving guidance, advice, and support throughout the planning, development, and execution of the systems and recommendations derived from the reports.

  • Exceptional writing and report preparation skills.
  • Strong facilitation and communication abilities.
  • Effective public speaking skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management Duties:

  • Ensure a comprehensive understanding of the Mental Health and Addictions Review Final Report, the Model for Mental Wellbeing in Communities, and the Health Status report on Mental Health and Substance Use.
