Position Overview

As a Leadhand, you will be responsible for overseeing, organizing, and distributing tasks among your designated team. Your role will include training personnel on OTM Book 7 protocols, performance standards in the CDMC, and embodying the Miller Values of Safety, Quality, and Integrity.

Your responsibilities will also encompass identifying operational deficiencies through regular inspections of roadways and communicating necessary information to the Patrol Supervisor. Daily duties will involve conducting quality assurance checks to ensure that all work adheres to the quality specifications set forth in the CDMC.

You will be expected to engage with on-site authorities and coordinate with MTO central dispatch to guarantee that sufficient resources are allocated for maintaining public safety on the roads during challenging weather conditions. When not engaged in highway patrol or minor repairs, you will perform routine vehicle inspections, cleaning, and minor maintenance, as well as estimating the time, materials, and equipment needed to fulfill tasks and contractual obligations.

Safety will be your top priority as you conduct regular safety briefings with your team and provide traffic management at incident scenes, making critical decisions regarding snow and ice control, including initiating equipment and operator call-outs. Staying organized is crucial as you complete and review daily logs, time sheets, and fuel records to ensure accurate and timely submissions.

As a vital member of the maintenance team, you will serve as the first point of contact in various situations. If you possess a safety-oriented mindset and enjoy working outdoors, this position is well-suited for you.
