Job Overview

The Senior Account Manager - CMHC, Commercial Services is responsible for delivering exceptional service to existing and new Business Members while embedding FirstOntario Business into the community to become the business lender of choice. This role is accountable for supporting FirstOntario Credit Union's strategic goals by achieving sales targets in loans, mortgages, deposits, and fees with the objective of driving business primarily in CMHC Multi-unit Residential assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide trusted advice to members through dedicated support and service, leading to increased volumes of commercial CMHC insured business.
  • Underwrite, manage, and administer commercial loans within the portfolio, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and FirstOntario policies.
  • Originate CMHC insured multi-residential mortgage business, both directly and through third-party partners, while maintaining and developing relationships with Treasury Department.
  • Oversee credit underwriting for CMHC transactions, reviewing and ensuring risk mitigating strategies are implemented.
  • Proactively manage credit portfolio reviews, tracking, pursuing, and analyzing annual reporting requirements from each Member in a timely manner.
  • Identify areas of opportunity within sales targets and implement action plans to achieve annual financial targets.
  • Act as point person for third-party CMHC origination partner firms in partnership with Treasury, actively soliciting new CMHC origination business and developing a network within the CMHC MURM sector.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in the CMHC MURM sector for FirstOntario, working closely with Treasury Department on securitization opportunities for CMHC insured MURMs.
  • Engage with the local business community by joining local business associations and attending/representing FirstOntario at special business events, prioritizing health and safety.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration, Commerce, and/or Economics or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong business acumen from 4-6 years' tenure in Business/Commercial banking or experience from other Member-facing and/or Credit adjudication roles.
  • 5+ years of experience in Commercial Real Estate underwriting, with Development and Construction underwriting considered an asset.
  • CMHC underwriting experience an asset.
  • Stay current on credit and investment product services and processes.
  • Demonstrate sales management skills in setting and monitoring sales targets, plans, pipelines, and activities.
  • Aware of and mitigate enterprise risk factors, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, legislation, and FirstOntario policies and procedures.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as the job demands, and travel to meet member needs.
