About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Industry and Professional Engagement to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to foster strong relationships with industry partners, employers, and professionals. Your primary focus will be on creating and executing dynamic initiatives that enhance our industry partnerships and provide students with access to top-tier employment, Co-op, and Work-Integrated Learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage industry partners, employers, and professionals to expand and improve our relationship with employers;
  • Lead, support, and facilitate the development and implementation of a "One Sheridan" institutional framework to employer and partnership relations;
  • Design modern, streamlined, and employer-relevant practices for student talent acquisition, student and employer engagement, and services for employers to partner with Sheridan for talent sourcing and recruitment;
  • Lead strategy, programs, and operations to create additional Co-op job, Work-Integrated Learning, Experiential Learning opportunities externally through employers and community partners for students;
  • Develop comprehensive marketing plans, assets, and ongoing presence to engage industry & employers;
  • Negotiate with industry associations or other industry umbrella groups to create contracts, partnerships, and agreements to partner with (includes drafting agreements, press releases, and coordination of associated outreach to promote these new partnership). Serving on community committees, board of directors or trade, and other externally facing bodies to advance Sheridan's brand, employer awareness, and to advocate for student employment/WIL;
  • Seeking funding opportunities, sponsorship, and industry contribution to Sheridan and participating in other projects and initiatives as required.

You have exceptional networking capabilities, are a skilled partnership developer with an aptitude to make connections and build relationships. You are a highly organized, self-directed, and resourceful leader with an ability to inspire a large staff team and to coordinate multiple and diverse activities. You are innovative, flexible, and adaptable with an ability to influence and help find solutions to meet divergent needs. Your solid interpersonal, relationship building, outreach skills along with your collaborative approach allow you to effectively balance the needs of multiple partners.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Education, Marketing, Public relations, Communications or related discipline;
  • 7 years of professional experience in the field of employer relations in higher education or work-integrated learning (equivalency to be considered);
  • Significant experience in program management, marketing, strategic planning, public relations, and supervisory experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in leading mid-large projects or initiatives with multiple stakeholders;
  • Experience in event planning and program management;
  • Experience with report-writing, correspondence, and presentations;
  • The following will be considered an asset:
    • Experience in post-secondary sector;
    • Knowledge of Sheridan programs and courses;
    • Business development/sales experience;
    • A certificate or completed courses in Project Management, Sales/Business Development, and/or Relationship Management;
