About the Role

CASA Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our team in providing comprehensive school-based mental health services. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, school administrators, community service providers, and caregivers to deliver timely, wrap-around clinical service delivery in the Comprehensive School-Based Mental Health Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social-spiritual mental health assessments of assigned preschoolers, children, and adolescents.
  • Formulate diagnoses as appropriate, using the DSM-V and/or other diagnostic tools.
  • Work closely with Elders and Knowledge Keepers from the communities we serve.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational group sessions on general mental health topics for school staff, caregivers, and community service providers.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of First Nation and Métis school division partners.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, professionals, caregivers, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers to develop holistic patient care plans and support successful transitions.
  • Participate in school and community events, including traditional ceremonies and cultural events.
  • Provide coverage for the Kipohtakaw Education Centre Mental Health Therapist.
Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in clinical psychology, social work (with psycho-social intervention designation), occupational therapy, or nursing.
  • Active registration and in good standing with a professional college identified under the Health Professions Act.
  • A minimum of two years clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
  • Access to cultural and spiritual knowledge and training is provided.
Conditions of Employment
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.
  • Must maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification and be physically able to perform all interventions.
