Opportunity Overview:

The successful candidate will have the flexibility to operate from various locations, including the Ponoka or Red Deer offices, with the potential for a hybrid remote work arrangement following an initial orientation period. Reporting to the Manager of the Virtual Opioid Dependency Program and receiving guidance from the Clinical Supervisor, the Provincial Mental Health Therapist will deliver harm reduction-oriented mental health and addiction services to clients throughout the province.

In this role, you will engage in an interdisciplinary approach to provide culturally sensitive assessments, treatments, crisis interventions, educational resources, and referrals for clients and their families affected by opioid dependency. Utilizing a strength-based methodology, you will employ motivational interviewing and solution-focused therapeutic techniques. The ideal candidate is proactive and assertive, equipped with robust skills in mental health resolution, critical thinking, and decision-making. Experience in group facilitation, community engagement, and educational initiatives for staff is essential.

This position is set to transition to Recovery Alberta, ensuring continuity of care and services.

Role Responsibilities:

As a Mental Health Therapist, you will implement a range of treatment approaches, including individual, family, and group therapy, for individuals facing significant mental health challenges. You will work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management, and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work (with clinical specialization), Occupational Therapy (with relevant training in mental health assessment and psychotherapy), or Nursing/Psychiatric Nursing (with appropriate training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy). Registration with the relevant Alberta regulatory college is required or must be attainable.
