Your Opportunity:
The successful candidate will have the flexibility to operate from various locations, including the Ponoka or Red Deer offices, with the potential for a hybrid remote work arrangement following an initial orientation period. Reporting to the Manager of the Virtual Opioid Dependency Program and supported by the Clinical Supervisor, the Provincial Mental Health Therapist will deliver harm reduction-oriented mental health and addiction services to clients throughout the province.
In this role, you will engage in an interdisciplinary approach to provide culturally sensitive assessments, treatment plans, crisis intervention, educational initiatives, and referral services for individuals and families affected by opioid dependency. Your practice will be grounded in a strength-based framework, employing motivational interviewing and solution-focused therapeutic techniques.
The ideal candidate is a proactive and assertive professional with a solid background in mental health solutions, critical analysis, and decision-making abilities. Experience in facilitating group sessions, community engagement, and offering educational resources for colleagues is essential.
Role Responsibilities:
As a Mental Health Therapist, you will:
- Utilize diverse treatment approaches (individual, family, and group) for clients facing significant mental health challenges.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, case management, and treatment.
Required Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work (clinical specialization), Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or Psychiatric Nursing, with relevant training in mental health assessment and psychotherapy. Must be actively registered or eligible for registration with the appropriate Alberta regulatory college.
