Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Accounting Supervisor, the Financial Accountant plays a crucial role in executing financial accounting processes. This position involves handling moderately complex to intricate financial accounting tasks that support the financial sub-ledger systems.

The Accountant is tasked with ensuring the precision of reports and reconciliations, with all pertinent documentation created and maintained for review. Responsibilities are performed with input, direction, and oversight from the Accounting Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute a range of accounting functions, addressing transactions that vary from moderately complex to intricate within the ERP and sub-ledger systems.
  • Conduct various reconciliations and pursue resolutions for discrepancies.
  • Generate reports that analyze trends for designated general ledger accounts.
  • Guarantee timely sub-ledger reporting for daily, monthly, and annual reconciliations, accompanied by all necessary documentation.
  • Utilize advanced spreadsheets to verify the accuracy of all reports, ensuring they align with general ledger accounts.
  • Examine trends and propose solutions for identified issues.
  • Detect and investigate anomalies, recommending actions to the Accounting Supervisor.
  • Compile clear and concise reports or presentations that summarize findings and recommendations.
  • Manage journal entries for monthly transactions, reconcile data, prepare continuity schedules, and respond to inquiries from department heads and executives.
  • Oversee assigned account reconciliations and sample selections to support interim and annual audits.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of four years of progressive accounting experience in a computerized setting related to the field.

Educational Background:

  • Completion of the fourth level of a recognized accounting program (CGA, CA, CMA).
  • OR Completion of the CPA's Prerequisite Education Program (PREP).
  • OR Completion of the CPA's Professional Education Program (PEP).
  • OR A degree in Commerce or Business Administration, qualifying for enrollment in the CPA's PEP program.

Experience in comprehensive accounting cycles is advantageous.

Experience in banking or disbursement processes is beneficial.

Proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Access, and SharePoint is required.
