Position Summary:

Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Financial Accountant plays a crucial role in executing financial accounting processes. This position involves handling moderately complex to intricate financial accounting responsibilities that support the financial sub-ledger systems.

The Financial Accountant ensures the precision of reports and reconciliations, maintaining all pertinent documentation for review. Tasks are performed with guidance, oversight, and feedback from the Accounting Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute a range of accounting functions, from moderately complex to intricate transactions within the ERP and sub-ledger systems.
  • Conduct various reconciliations and pursue resolutions for discrepancies.
  • Generate reports that analyze trends for designated general ledger accounts.
  • Guarantee timely sub-ledger reporting for daily, monthly, and annual reconciliations, ensuring all supporting documentation is complete.
  • Utilize advanced spreadsheets to verify the accuracy of all reports, ensuring they align with general ledger accounts.
  • Analyze financial trends and propose solutions for identified issues.
  • Investigate anomalies and recommend actions to the Accounting Supervisor.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports or presentations that summarize findings and suggestions.
  • Manage journal entries for monthly transactions, reconcile data, create continuity schedules, and respond to inquiries from department heads and executives.
  • Oversee assigned account reconciliations and sample selections to facilitate Interim and Annual Audits.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of four years of progressive accounting experience in a computerized setting related to this field.

Educational Background:

  • Completion of the fourth level of a recognized accounting program (CGA, CA, CMA).
  • OR Completion of the CPA's Prerequisite Education Program (PREP).
  • OR Completion of the CPA's Professional Education Program (PEP).
  • OR A degree in Commerce or Business Administration (eligible for CPA's PEP program).

Experience in comprehensive accounting cycles is advantageous.

Experience in banking or disbursement processes is beneficial.

Proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Access, and SharePoint.
