Support Specialist for Community Engagement

Position Overview:
This role is designed for both male and female candidates and necessitates Union Membership. The primary focus is to assist individuals in leading a fulfilling and meaningful life across various aspects of their choosing.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Diploma in a relevant human or social services discipline
  2. A minimum of one (1) year of pertinent experience
  3. Must possess and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check, including Vulnerable Sector Verification
  4. Must maintain a clear Driver's Abstract
  5. Must hold a valid First Aid Certification
  6. Must have valid CPI training
  7. Must be vaccinated against Covid-19

Key Competencies:

  1. Ability to advocate for the needs, rights, desires, and choices of individuals served
  2. Capability to promote independence and provide opportunities for skill development, assisting individuals in recognizing and enhancing their unique talents and abilities
  3. Proficiency in participating in the creation, execution, and ongoing documentation of individualized person-centered plans. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
  4. Knowledge and capability to assist individuals with their personal care needs while ensuring they are viewed positively by their community
  5. Ability to foster and maintain fulfilling relationships with family, friends, and neighbors
  6. Skill in establishing and sustaining positive working relationships with all professionals involved in the care of individuals served
  7. Willingness to perform additional duties as required

Performance Expectations:
Job performance will be evaluated based on satisfactory fulfillment of the aforementioned responsibilities, including assessment reports and disciplinary records as per the relevant collective agreement.
