Position Overview

The Student Recruitment Advisor plays a crucial role in promoting the educational offerings and services at Douglas College. This position is responsible for implementing and managing domestic student recruitment initiatives while ensuring exceptional service to all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Domestic Student Recruitment: Develops and coordinates recruitment programs, including:
  • Delivering informative presentations to diverse audiences about the advantages of post-secondary education and Douglas College programs.
  • Providing tailored information to prospective students based on their interests and aspirations.
  • Building strong relationships with secondary schools, community organizations, and educational agencies.
  • Maintaining effective communication with the college community and external partners.
  • Responding to inquiries from educators and community members to facilitate student guidance.
  • Managing communication channels, including in-person, phone, and online inquiries.
  • Assisting in the creation of program assessment reports.
  • Coordinating the distribution of promotional materials.
  • Utilizing a contact management system to track potential students and stakeholders.
  • Participating in recruitment events, career fairs, and community outreach.
  • Setting up promotional displays and troubleshooting technical equipment during presentations.
  • Attending events to engage with prospective students.
Leadership and Supervision: Oversees the Student Ambassador program, including:
  • Guiding student staff in supporting ambassador activities.
  • Recruiting and training ambassadors through interactive sessions.
  • Providing mentorship and fostering leadership development among volunteers.
  • Facilitating communication and volunteer coordination.
  • Evaluating ambassador performance and addressing any issues.
Event Management: Provides on-site supervision for college events involving student participation.Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of the B.C. post-secondary education landscape, including admissions and program offerings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CRM systems is advantageous.
  • Completion of a Criminal Record Check is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with diverse groups and manage recruitment activities.
  • Proven experience in leading student programs and events.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
