Job Summary:

Queen's University invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean, Faculty of Education. The appointment, for an initial five-year term, begins July 1, 2025.

About the Faculty:

Since 1968, Queen's Faculty of Education has been a leader in education. With three units – Teacher Education, Graduate Education, and Professional and Non-Credit Education – the Faculty's mission is to develop progressive, ethical, and thoughtful leaders through teaching, research, and professional collaborations. Queen's Education students explore and examine teaching and learning from a variety of perspectives across diverse contexts, while the Faculty's research informs progressive changes and educational policies locally, nationally, and internationally. Queen's Education is home to award-winning teachers, internationally recognized researchers, educational innovators, and community leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the Faculty's operations, including strategy, budget, human resources, external relations, and fund development.
  • Lead the Faculty's commitment to attract and educate a diverse faculty and student body that is responsive to the diverse and evolving needs of Ontario's and Canada's education systems.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and Indigeneity within the Faculty.
  • Collaborate with senior administrators, faculty members, and staff to achieve the Faculty's goals and objectives.
  • Represent the Faculty at university-wide and external events, promoting its mission and values.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Education or a related field.
  • Senior academic and administrative leadership experience in education or a related field.
  • Proven track record of research and teaching in relevant fields.
  • Commitment to excellence in research, teaching, service, and practice.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate faculty and staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
