Dean of Design Opportunity at OCAD University

OCAD University is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Dean of Design, Faculty of Design. As a key member of the University's senior leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Faculty's educational and research development, fostering community and institutional partnerships, and enhancing the student experience.

With a strong focus on decolonization, equity, and sustainability, the Faculty is dedicated to advancing the field of design and making a positive impact on society.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Faculty's educational and research development, ensuring alignment with the University's Academic and Strategic Plan
  • Foster community and institutional partnerships to enhance the student experience and advance the Faculty's mission
  • Develop and implement strategic priorities and initiatives to advance decolonization, equity, and sustainability
  • Champion the Faculty's vision, needs, and evolution, and promote positive transformation and change within the Faculty
  • Collaborate with other Deans and senior leaders to promote effective management of the University's academic programs, research, and outreach
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong background in design or a related field, with a proven track record of leadership, program and faculty advocacy, curricular development, and administrative experience. They will be a dynamic communicator, adept problem solver, and facilitator, with excellent negotiation and fundraising skills. The ideal candidate will be committed to decolonization, sustainability, and social justice, and will have a keen understanding of how to embed these principles into academic programming, organizational culture, and creative practice.
