Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Counsellor to join our team at the Youth Justice Residence. As a Residential Counsellor, you will provide support and guidance to youth in detention, helping them to develop life skills, manage crisis situations, and achieve their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support and counselling to youth in detention, including crisis management and conflict resolution.
- Develop and implement life skills training programs, including education, social skills, and community integration.
- Supervise community/recreational outings and ensure the safety and well-being of youth in our care.
- Collaborate with community partners and referral sources to provide comprehensive support services to youth and their families.
- Conduct administrative tasks, including client intake, assessment, and case management.
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in the Social Services field, with a strong knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and social service agencies.
- Valid First Aid and CPI certifications, with a valid Driver's License or G1 and commitment to achieving G-2 or G-full within a 2-year period.
- At least one year of recent work experience in services/programs for males aged in detention awaiting court or serving a period of custody, including experience in conflict management, individualized support, and supervising community/recreational outings.
