Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist will provide direct client intervention, conducting assessments, developing intervention plans, consultation, providing therapeutic programming, and caregiver training to support the mental health and well-being of children and adolescents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct occupational therapy assessments with referred clients to identify strengths and needs, utilizing standardized testing as necessary.
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to assist clients in gaining skills for everyday life, school, and relationships.
  • Support clients in identifying and working toward realistic goals, managing client caseloads, and prioritizing appropriately.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team for planning and problem-solving to address client issues.
  • Facilitate topic-specific training sessions as needed and assist with service navigation and referral to community resources.
  • Engage caregivers and care teams in the assessment and treatment process, maintaining appropriate clinical documentation and fulfilling administrative duties.
  • Share relevant information with and provide consultation to collateral agencies, such as Child and Family Service Agencies and schools.
Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate or Clinical Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM) with the incumbent's name entered in the practicing register or the provisional register as an examination candidate.
  • Expertise in the area of child and adolescent mental health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member and cooperatively with other disciplines.
  • Ability to practice independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice.
  • Current certification in either DLE (The Purposeful Use of Daily Life Events) or TCS (Therapeutic Crisis Solutions) or willingness to obtain the same.
  • Current First-aid/CPR certification.
  • ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and De-escalation training or willingness to obtain the same.
  • Current satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks, and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children and adolescents and their families.
  • Knowledge of the child welfare system in Manitoba.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous customs, beliefs, and practices.
What We Offer

The Link offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $65,000 annually, including vacation, paid sick leave, benefit plan, and pension plan. The position requires 35 hours of work per week.
