We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team on a permanent full-time basis, contributing to our mission at the LMC Vaughan clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating patient flow within examination and treatment areas to optimize the utilization of facilities and physician schedules.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation of patient information and liaising with medical laboratories or physician offices as needed.
  • Preparing patients for evaluations by measuring vital signs, including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height, weight, and BMI, and accurately recording this information.
  • Gathering comprehensive medical and social histories from patients.
  • Reviewing medication lists for accuracy and completeness.
  • Promoting coordinated and comprehensive care in collaboration with the entire LMC care team, including endocrinologists, diabetes educators, pharmacists, chiropodists, optometrists, researchers, and health coaches.
  • Setting up examination rooms with necessary medical supplies.
  • Downloading data from various glucose meters, continuous glucose monitors, and insulin pumps.
  • Utilizing electronic software for downloading investigations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a medical office setting and/or a diploma as a Medical Office Assistant.
  • Previous experience as a Personal Support Worker or in a Medical Laboratory is advantageous.
  • Experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) or Practical Nurse is beneficial.
  • Proficient understanding of Electronic Medical Records systems; familiarity with Accuro is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience in measuring vital signs, such as manual blood pressure and pulse, is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills aimed at assisting patients in accessing services to enhance their health.
