Healthcare Support Specialist

Position Overview
The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering a range of services that support the operational efficiency of the unit, adhering to infection control protocols and departmental guidelines.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting unit personnel with the relocation of chairs, beds, stretchers, machinery, and other essential equipment.
- Aiding in the transport of patients within the unit, under the supervision of clinical staff.
- Managing the delivery and collection of equipment and supplies.
- Ensuring timely delivery of patient lab specimens, blood tests, and x-rays to designated areas.
- Setting up necessary isolation precautions, including linen hampers, carts, and waste containers.
- Distributing linen to patient rooms efficiently.
- Following directives from the healthcare team during critical situations and peak activity periods.
- Monitoring and emptying soiled linen receptacles.
- Assisting in preparing patient rooms for new admissions.
- Conducting regular safety inspections of patient rooms, including checks of bed alarms and ensuring the absence of trip hazards.
- Performing routine audits as required, such as the Hand-Hygiene Audit Checklist.
- Contributing to the cleanliness of the unit.
- Overseeing unit inventory and restocking necessary items.
- Restocking unit-specific supply carts and managing inventory deliveries to the unit.
- Maintaining inventory levels of non-just-in-time supply carts and providing inventory lists to the Unit Secretary.
- Checking and replenishing supplies in patient treatment areas and various supply carts.
- Collecting patient-specific equipment for laundry services.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

- Proficient command of the English language, encompassing reading, writing, and verbal communication.
