We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team on a temporary part-time basis, providing essential support within our clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating the patient flow in examination and treatment areas to optimize the use of facilities and the Physician's schedule.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation, including patient information and forms, and coordinating with medical laboratories and Physician offices as needed.
  • Preparing patients for physician assessments by measuring vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height, weight, and BMI, and accurately recording this information.
  • Gathering comprehensive medical and social histories from patients.
  • Reviewing medication lists for accuracy and completeness.
  • Promoting coordinated and comprehensive care among the entire LMC care team, which includes endocrinologists, diabetes educators, pharmacists, chiropodists, optometrists, researchers, and health coaches.
  • Setting up examination rooms with the necessary medical supplies.
  • Downloading data from various glucose meters, continuous glucose monitors, and insulin pumps.
  • Utilizing electronic software for downloading investigations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a medical office setting and/or a diploma as a Medical Office Assistant.
  • Previous experience as a Personal Support Worker or in a Medical Laboratory is advantageous.
  • Experience as a Medical Assistant or Practical Nurse is a plus.
  • Proficient understanding of Electronic Medical Records systems; knowledge of Accuro is beneficial.
  • Strong grasp of medical terminology.
  • Prior experience as a medical assistant and/or proficiency in measuring vital signs, including manual blood pressure and pulse, is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills aimed at assisting patients in accessing health services.
