Job Title: Educational Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. As an integral member of our school community, you will provide support to students with exceptional needs, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities
  • Participate in pool programs, academic support, and special programs
  • Implement strategies to support students with learning disabilities and speech/language issues
  • Perform outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and pool duties as required
Requirements:
  • Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years of related experience with school-aged special needs children
  • Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C
  • Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training
Preferred Qualifications:
  • DSW certification
  • Autism experience
  • Level 2 sign language
  • Experience working with deaf/blind students
  • PIC Symbols
  • Behaviour Modification Systems
  • Computer skills
