We are seeking a dedicated Community Engagement Coordinator who is enthusiastic about fostering accessible, inclusive, and equitable environments across Canada. This role is essential in ensuring that individuals with low vision have boundless opportunities and can live without barriers or discrimination.

Your Contributions
  • Oversee and coordinate programmatic, operational, administrative, and logistical tasks within the designated region. Key responsibilities include:
    • Creating a welcoming atmosphere at CNIB Community Hubs for participants, volunteers, and staff, while actively participating in the local Hub's staff schedule.
    • Facilitating the coordination and implementation of the CNIB Mobile Hub in partnership with CNIB SmartLife and other program areas, including traveling to various communities to deliver services.
    • Assisting volunteers in the planning and organization of program content for CNIB community initiatives.
    • Representing CNIB in local settings, attending events, building partnerships, and engaging with community stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to all CNIB policies and procedures.
  • Uphold CNIB's commitment to exceptional participant and customer service, ensuring these standards are understood and maintained by interns and volunteers.
  • Develop a robust volunteer base to support local programs and operations, promoting CNIB as the preferred organization for volunteer engagement.
  • Exemplify CNIB's values through passionate, determined, and positive engagement that transforms lives and communities.
  • Establish strong relationships with program participants, gaining insights into their unique needs and experiences.
  • Encourage and refer program participants to CNIB services that may enhance their support network and community involvement.
  • Document participant and volunteer information in CNIB's client management system.
  • Effectively manage competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Provide solutions to routine and complex issues using diplomacy, creativity, and analytical skills.
  • Address and resolve participant, intern, and volunteer concerns promptly.

Qualifications

Who You Are:

Education and Certifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field.

Experience and Skills

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in administration, customer service, and service delivery within a non-profit organization or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated success in volunteer coordination and administrative support roles.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Adaptable and responsive to new tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.
  • Familiarity with Accessibility Standards and best practices is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and travel as needed.
  • Experience related to blindness and sight loss is a plus.
  • Experience with assistive technology and accessible environments is beneficial.

Work Environment

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Daily work is based at the Sudbury Community Hub.
  • Regular travel within the northern Ontario region and occasional travel throughout the province.
