Position Overview

This is a Full-Time, Permanent role based in Ontario, reporting to the Manager of Programs and Community Engagement. The Coordinator for Community Engagement will play a vital role in enhancing accessibility and inclusivity for individuals with low vision across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating various programmatic, operational, and logistical tasks within the region.
  • Creating a welcoming environment at CNIB Community Hubs for participants, volunteers, and staff.
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of the CNIB Mobile Hub, including travel to various communities.
  • Supporting volunteers in developing engaging content for community programming.
  • Representing CNIB at local events and fostering partnerships with community stakeholders.
  • Ensuring adherence to CNIB's policies and procedures.
  • Promoting high standards of service and participant engagement.
  • Building and maintaining a robust volunteer base to support local initiatives.
  • Establishing strong relationships with program participants to understand their needs and experiences.
  • Encouraging participants to utilize CNIB's programs and services for enhanced community involvement.
  • Documenting participant and volunteer information in the client management system.
  • Managing multiple priorities effectively and providing solutions to challenges.
  • Addressing participant and volunteer inquiries promptly and professionally.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in administration, customer service, or service delivery within a non-profit organization.
  • A proven track record in volunteer coordination and administrative support.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Accessibility Standards is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and travel as needed.
  • Experience related to blindness or assistive technology is advantageous.

The role requires:
  • Flexibility to work both independently and collaboratively.
