Position Overview

This is a Full-Time, Permanent role based in Ontario, reporting directly to the Manager of Programs and Community Engagement. As a key player in our mission, you will contribute to transforming the lives of individuals with low vision across Canada.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As the Coordinator of Community Engagement, you will:

  • Oversee and manage various programmatic, operational, and logistical tasks within the region.
  • Ensure CNIB Community Hubs are inviting spaces for participants, volunteers, and staff, actively engaging in local Hub activities.
  • Facilitate the CNIB Mobile Hub in partnership with other program areas, including traveling to deliver services to communities.
  • Assist volunteers in developing and coordinating program content for community initiatives.
  • Act as a representative of CNIB in local settings, attending events, building partnerships, and connecting with stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with all CNIB policies and procedures.
  • Uphold CNIB's standards of participant and customer service, ensuring these are communicated effectively to interns and volunteers.
  • Grow and nurture the volunteer base essential for local programs, promoting CNIB as a preferred organization for volunteer engagement.
  • Exemplify CNIB's values through passionate and determined work, positively impacting lives and society.
  • Foster strong relationships with program participants, understanding their unique needs and experiences.
  • Encourage participants to utilize CNIB programs and services, enhancing their community involvement.
  • Document participant and volunteer information in CNIB's client management system.
  • Manage competing priorities and deadlines efficiently.
  • Provide effective solutions to challenges using creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Address and resolve participant, intern, and volunteer concerns promptly.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field.

Experience and Skills

We are looking for candidates with:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in administration, customer service, or service delivery within a non-profit organization.
  • A proven history of success in volunteer coordination and administrative support.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to new tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Good networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of Accessibility Standards and best practices is advantageous.
  • The ability to work independently and travel within the designated geography.
  • Experience related to blindness and sight loss, or working with assistive technology, is considered an asset.

Work Environment

In this role, you will:

  • Work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Be open to flexible hours, including occasional evening and weekend events.
  • Primarily work on-site at the Community Hub.
  • Travel regularly within the designated region and occasionally throughout the province.
