About the Role:

The Project Accounting Manager will be primarily responsible for overseeing the monthly accounting and reporting cycle for Fitzrovia's development projects and corporate entities. Additional responsibilities will be required on a periodic basis, including supporting project managers with information requests or financial analysis.

Fitzrovia is a vertically integrated development and asset management company focused on Class-A and vintage-style apartment buildings across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Montreal. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to all aspects of real estate investment and development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounting & Finance Functions:
    • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial records for various stakeholders.
    • Perform monthly accounting close procedures.
    • Process the full cycle of accounts payable, including posting payable entries, cheque issuance, responding to enquiries from vendors, and vendor account reconciliation.
    • Coordinate, review, and analyze monthly progress billing invoices for construction to ensure billing accuracy, fee reconciliation, and ledger balance.
    • Ensure financial statements are prepared on a timely basis for our stakeholders.
    • Track budget changes and update the financial models monthly as contracts are awarded.
    • Execute daily transactions for all projects (wires, loan requests, etc).
    • Support senior executives across all departments with requested financial analysis or retrieval of information.
    • Cash flow management.
    • Prepare compliance filings (HST, Corporate Tax, etc).
    • Work with external accountants to prepare year-end financials.
    • Assist with obtaining the land loan and construction loans.
    • Perform other duties as required.
  • Investor Relations:
    • Prepare monthly investor reports for each project.
    • Prepare and distribute budget approvals sheets.
    • Prepare and distribute monthly financials.
    • Prepare and distribute capital calls.
    • Assist with the monthly development plan distribution.
Qualifications and Experiences:
  • CPA, CGA, or CPA, CMA, or actively enrolled in the CPA program (midway through or nearing completion) is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education with a specialty in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role and/or accounting and tax experience in a corporate environment is considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and planning skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Sage Accounting.
  • Flexibility to work outside of core hours when business needs dictate.
  • Self-starter attitude with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highest degree of integrity, honesty, and commitment to professionalism.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, curious, responsive, and result-driven.
  • Strong teamwork, decision, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
