LEAD PROJECT ACCOUNTANT (BILINGUAL) M/F

Contract Type: Permanent

Context: Reporting directly to the Senior Operations Finance Manager, you will be instrumental in providing operational support throughout the organization. As the Lead Project Accountant, you will be a vital member of the corporate services team, facilitating proactive project accounting, managing invoicing and collections, and ensuring adherence to corporate strategies and policies.

Location Flexibility: Available at any of our permanent office locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management: Initiate new projects, define billing terms, set phases, and finalize projects upon completion within our accounting framework.
  2. Financial Oversight: Execute project costing, revenue, and budget evaluations, and carry out revenue recognition and work-in-progress assessments.
  3. Contract Management: Aid in the administration of project contracts and ensure all documentation is in order.
  4. Invoicing and Collections: Oversee the invoicing and collections process by preparing and dispatching monthly project invoices to clients, reconciling incoming client payments for deposit, and managing accounts receivable.
  5. Communication and Coordination: Facilitate internal communications with project managers, compile billing and payment summaries, address inquiries from project managers and clients, and update the accounting system with Purchase Orders (P.O.s). Follow up on P.O.s as necessary and adhere to established accounts receivable protocols.
  6. Reporting and Analysis: Manage backlog and pipeline reporting, analyze financial data, and pinpoint opportunities for enhancing financial and operational practices.
  7. Account Reconciliation: Reconcile General Ledger accounts.
  8. Fulfill additional responsibilities and project work as assigned.

Candidate Profile:

  1. Education: A minimum of a two-year diploma in Accounting or a related discipline. CPA designation is advantageous.
  2. Experience: At least 3 to 5 years of experience in project accounting and related functions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Software Knowledge: Familiarity with Deltek Vision software is a plus.
  4. Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in accounts receivable, invoicing, and project reviews and analysis.
  5. Analytical Abilities: Exceptional analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  6. MS Office Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  7. Administrative Skills: Strong organizational and administrative capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
  8. Communication Skills: Ability to manage challenging interactions with tact and diplomacy, alongside excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French.
  9. Professional Experience: Experience in a professional services environment is preferred.
  10. Teamwork and Independence: Capable of working effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  11. Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
