We are seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant to join our team at WSP Canada. As a key member of our financial management team, you will be responsible for providing support to project managers and ensuring the accurate and timely financial management of projects throughout their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Provide financial support to project managers, including project opening, monitoring, updating, and closing.
- Ensure that projects are created and updated accurately, reflecting the value of the mandate, costs, and expected margin of the contract.
- Validate the financial status of projects, ensuring that all costs and revenues are recorded in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with project managers to review project financials, including planned costs and total costs at completion.
- Address financial issues related to revenues, budgets, and profitability.
- Work with project managers to use project analysis tools, dashboards, and Oracle.
- Understand commercial clauses and terms of invoicing and payment of projects.
- Interact with invoicing and collections teams on payment/collection issues related to projects.
- Assist the controller with projects requiring provisions, such as invoice adjustments and accounts receivable.
- Support the controller with month-end accounting close.
- Prepare financial reports for the controller, project managers, and managers.
- Bachelor's or Technical degree in Administration or Accounting.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position in financial and operational management.
- Knowledge of the professional services industry, accounting/project management, and ERP-type systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
- Professional judgment and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Windows suite tools.
- Knowledge of Oracle system is an asset.
