Position Overview:

The University of Toronto is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Sessional Instructional Assistant within the Faculty of Arts & Science, specifically in the Department of Art History.

Course Information:

Course Title: FAH364H1S Visual South Asia

Course Synopsis: This course provides a comprehensive examination of the visual culture of South Asia, spanning from the Indus Valley Civilization to contemporary practices. Emphasis will be placed on visual literacy, stylistic developments, and critical analysis of significant works.

Estimated Number of Students: 80

Position Availability: 1

Appointment Duration: 100 hours

Sessional Appointment Dates: January to April

Compensation: $52.26 per hour plus vacation pay. Please note that the rates in the collective agreement will take precedence over those stated here if discrepancies arise.

Qualifications Required:

  • A solid foundation in Art History, with a broad understanding of historical and geographical contexts relevant to the course.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctorate in Art History.
  • Experience in evaluating undergraduate student performance.
  • A keen interest in innovative teaching methodologies that promote student engagement and effective assessment strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Participation in weekly lectures.
  • Assessment and management of student grades.
  • Supervision of examinations.
  • Availability for student consultations during designated office hours.
