Position Overview:

The University of Toronto is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced individual to teach a course focused on Pharmacokinetics (PK). This role is essential in guiding students through the intricacies of how the body interacts with drugs, emphasizing the significance of PK in drug development and its applications in personalized medicine.

Course Content:

This course will cover foundational principles of PK, leading to advanced modeling techniques such as population PK (PopPK) and physiologically based PK (PBPK). Participants will engage in practical applications of these models using industry-standard software, enabling them to understand dosing strategies, formulation comparisons, and interspecies scaling, among other critical aspects.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a strong academic background in Pharmacokinetics and experience with PBPK modeling. Proficiency in teaching with PK-Sim software is essential, and prior teaching experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a co-coordinator to refine the course syllabus.
  • Deliver a weekly two-hour lecture, including a one-hour tutorial session, totaling approximately 20 hours of direct student engagement.
  • Develop and evaluate assignments.
  • Facilitate tutorials and provide support for PKSim software troubleshooting.

Support and Enrollment:

This position does not include teaching assistant support, and the estimated course enrollment is 15 students.

Compensation:

The remuneration for this position is $4,729, in addition to vacation pay.

Additional Information:

This position is governed by the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, and hiring preference will be given to candidates who have advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or III.

It is important to note that certain candidates, such as undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from the University of Toronto, are covered under a different collective agreement and should refrain from applying for this position.
