Position Overview:

The University of Toronto is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Sessional Instructional Assistant for the course FAH101H1F, focusing on the Monuments of Art History. This position involves engaging with students and supporting their learning experience in the field of art history.

Course Focus: A comprehensive introduction to the arts and architecture from ancient times to contemporary periods, highlighting the integral relationship between art and historical context.

Course Objectives:

  • To explore a curated selection of artworks and architectural examples.
  • To develop critical skills in art historical analysis and writing.
  • To facilitate experiential learning through museum and gallery visits.

Enrolment Information:

Estimated Student Count: 350 students
Appointment Size: 140 hours

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in weekly online lectures.
  • Lead in-person tutorial sessions.
  • Assess and track student performance.
  • Supervise examinations.
  • Conduct office hours for student consultations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong background in Art History with relevant historical and geographical knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MA or PhD) in Art History.
  • Experience in evaluating undergraduate student work.
  • Interest in innovative teaching methods and student engagement strategies.
