Course Synopsis:

This course, a collaborative effort between the Faculty of Law and the Munk School, will explore significant topics in Aboriginal law and policy. The aim is to foster an interdisciplinary environment where students from law, global affairs, and public policy can engage in meaningful discussions regarding the evolving relationship between Canadian governments and Indigenous communities. The curriculum will encompass historical contexts, contemporary challenges, and landmark legal cases pertinent to this dynamic field.

Expected Class Size: Approximately 25 students

Teaching Schedule: Lectures will be held weekly on Tuesdays from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Appointment Duration: The appointment will span the academic term.

Compensation:

Salary will be determined based on the lecturer's experience and qualifications, with a structured pay scale for different levels of Sessional Lecturers.

Qualifications:

A graduate degree in Law is essential, with a focus on public policy. Candidates must possess extensive knowledge and experience in the Indigenous law and policy sector, along with prior teaching experience at the graduate level.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Delivering lectures and facilitating discussions
  • Developing and refining the course syllabus
  • Providing academic support and office hours for students
  • Creating and administering assignments and assessments
  • Evaluating student performance and submitting grades
