Job Overview

Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Senior Superintendent plays a crucial role in coordinating and overseeing site activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and uphold the Magil safety program, fostering a strong safety culture on-site through mentorship and exemplary behavior.
  • Assist project teams in overcoming scheduling challenges and aid in the formulation and execution of recovery strategies.
  • Monitor project advancement to ensure compliance with performance, productivity, quality, and safety standards.
  • Act as a liaison with clients, consultants, and subcontractors when site teams require escalation support.
  • Guide, direct, coach, and mentor project teams across various sites.
  • Collaborate with teams to visualize the entire project, identify critical paths in the project schedule, foresee constructability challenges, and integrate solutions into construction plans and timelines.
  • Partner with the Site Superintendent and project management team to craft and execute a comprehensive Project Execution Plan.
  • Ensure effective scheduling, coordination, and cost management regarding project labor, equipment, and materials by site personnel.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and pursue innovative construction techniques and initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Journeyman certificate or a post-secondary diploma/degree in a relevant field.
  • Over 20 years of progressive experience in field supervision is preferred.
  • Eligibility for project security clearances.

Competencies

  • Ability to review and comprehend contracts and subcontracts, assisting project teams in risk identification and mitigation while maximizing opportunities to achieve financial objectives.
  • Proficient understanding of project scope and the application of complex engineering principles to address construction challenges.
  • Capability to conduct value engineering and delineate scope and limitations for project pursuits.
  • Thorough knowledge of contract language, with the ability to identify risks and leverage opportunities.
  • Extensive understanding of safety and environmental principles, with demonstrated experience in fostering a robust safety culture.
  • Skilled in mentoring field staff to effectively lead site meetings with clients, consultants, trades, and internal teams.
  • Proficient in presenting at client meetings or during project pursuits.
  • Expert in managing general project requirements and effectively communicating this expertise to field staff.

Experience

  • Experience in scheduling, monitoring, and guiding others in resource forecasting.
  • Ability to manage field personnel across multiple projects, ensuring coordination of all scopes.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and company operations, including building materials, specifications, and methodologies.
  • Experience in addressing grievance and employee relations matters.
