About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Apprentice to join our team at ABM Plumbing & Heating Services Inc. As a Plumbing Apprentice, you will assist our experienced plumbers in various tasks related to plumbing system installation, maintenance, and repair.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems.
  • Prepare tenders and quotations for plumbing projects, taking into account factors such as materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Instruct apprentices and provide guidance on plumbing techniques and best practices.
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors.
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings.
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.
  • Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing.
  • Estimate costs and materials for plumbing projects.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to the required shape and size.
Work Environment

As a Plumbing Apprentice, you will work in a fast-paced environment with a large workload. You will be required to work in confined spaces, wet/damp conditions, and at various locations, including commercial and residential sites.

Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift heavy loads
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks that require bending, crouching, and kneeling
