Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated **Plumbing Technician Apprentice** to join our team at **Rodwell Mechanical & Plumbing Corporation**. This is a **permanent position** that offers a dynamic work environment across various sectors including **commercial**, **industrial**, and **institutional** settings.

Work Environment
  • Work Language: English
  • Hours: 35 to 45 hours per week
  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years
Site Conditions

  • Wet or damp conditions
Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to establish plumbing system layouts.
  • Guide and instruct apprentices in plumbing techniques.
  • Identify and mark locations for pipe connections and fixtures.
  • Prepare openings in walls and floors for pipe installation.
  • Assemble pipes using various methods including soldering and welding.
  • Coordinate personnel, tools, and equipment for projects.
  • Conduct leak tests on pipes using air and water pressure gauges.
  • Assess piping system requirements and determine pipe sizing.
  • Oversee the work of junior staff.
  • Measure, cut, and shape pipes as necessary.
Supervision

Supervise a small team of 1 to 2 individuals.

Required Certifications
  • Backflow Prevention Certification
  • Plumber Trade Certification
  • Working at Heights Training
  • WSIB Clearance Certificate
  • WHMIS Certificate
Apprenticeship Training

Completion of levels two through five of apprenticeship training is required.

Special Skills

Knowledge of specialized environmental plumbing techniques is an asset.

Safety and Security
  • Must be bondable.
  • Basic security clearance required.
  • Criminal record and driving record checks will be conducted.
Transportation Requirements
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Access to a personal vehicle is preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to bend, crouch, and kneel as required.
  • Capable of handling heavy loads and working under pressure.
  • Overtime may be necessary.
Tools and Equipment

Personal tools and steel-toed safety boots are required for this position.
