As the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager at Bunge, you will provide strategic leadership and technical expertise to ensure the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship at our facilities. You will be responsible for the implementation and management of comprehensive EHS programs aimed at fostering a culture of safety and compliance, while continuously striving to mitigate risks associated with serious injuries, fatalities, and environmental incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and enhance Bunge's EHS standards and initiatives to achieve a Best-in-Class safety program focused on preventing serious injuries and environmental non-compliance.
  • Offer expert EHS guidance and support to plant management and employees, ensuring a thorough understanding of safety protocols.
  • Mentor and train staff on safety leadership principles, promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Design and execute EHS training sessions for all personnel, including contractors and visitors, emphasizing critical safety practices and environmental regulations.
  • Facilitate the adoption of Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles and tools across the organization.
  • Regularly review and update EHS policies and procedures to align with Bunge's global standards and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct safety audits and observations to assess the effectiveness of EHS programs and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain records of incidents, near misses, and environmental breaches, conducting thorough investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Champion sustainability initiatives within the plant and collaborate with corporate teams to gather data and drive environmental improvements.
  • Oversee fire protection and security measures to safeguard company assets and coordinate with insurance representatives for compliance.
  • Ensure that emergency response strategies are developed and effectively executed in the event of environmental or safety emergencies.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) initiatives in facilities handling hazardous materials.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies regarding all EHS-related matters.
  • Collaborate with local safety teams and corporate EHS departments to enhance safety practices.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in safety and environmental management.
  • Proven track record in improving safety performance and managing high potential exposure incidents.
  • Strong understanding of EHS regulations and the ability to foster a safe working environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence and engage others.
  • Proficient in using standard office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
