EHS Program Coordinator

As an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator, you will oversee all aspects of environmental health and safety (EHS) initiatives. Your role is crucial in ensuring that safety protocols, industrial hygiene, and environmental practices not only meet but exceed the standards set by governing EHS regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and all relevant Johnson Electric policies, as well as other industry standards.
- Adhere to all applicable Environmental Health and Safety and Quality Management Systems.
- Organize inspection audits of facilities and equipment to identify potential health and safety risks and implement corrective measures.
- Manage all ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, audits, and necessary corrective actions.
- Maintain thorough records and lead investigations into work-related accidents, injuries, illnesses, and incidents, providing recommendations to mitigate root causes.
- Address and resolve environmental, health, and safety concerns or complaints.
- Identify training needs and coordinate employee training programs focused on EHS, including accident and fire prevention.
- Develop, maintain, and regularly update emergency response plans and equipment.
- Oversee WSIB claims management and Return-to-Work programs.
- Coordinate and monitor environmental control measures.
- Responsible for waste reduction, recycling initiatives, hazardous material management, pollution control, and compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Stay informed about federal, provincial, and local regulations and maintain a comprehensive registry.
- Keep management updated on health, safety, and environmental activities.
- Serve as the Certified Management Representative for the Joint Health & Safety Committee, overseeing all related meetings and activities.
- Update and maintain EHS training materials and presentations.
- Manage contractor oversight and security access for the facility.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional related duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Health and Safety and Environment or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the Health and Safety and Environmental sector, preferably within a manufacturing context.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
- Prior experience in environments adhering to ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.
- Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
- High integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results-oriented mindset.
