POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Facilities & Compliance Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the development and management of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance initiatives, as well as infrastructure projects related to accessibility. This role ensures that all compliance-related projects are executed efficiently, adhering to budgetary constraints and regulatory standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Conduct thorough research on EHS regulations and municipal by-laws to identify compliance gaps and necessary corrective actions, including areas such as backflow prevention and asbestos management.

- Coordinate and oversee the design and construction activities for compliance projects across various facilities, including community centers and cultural sites.

- Assist in the creation and upkeep of an integrated management system, encompassing planning, execution, auditing, and corrective actions.

- Identify and implement processes to enhance collaboration between compliance programs and other departments, such as Operations and Facilities Planning.

- Develop terms of reference for consultant engagement, manage requests for proposals, and evaluate submissions to recommend suitable candidates.

- Conduct regular meetings with consultants and contractors to ensure project quality and compliance with EHS laws and municipal guidelines.

- Perform site assessments, prepare reports, and conduct audits to evaluate site conditions.

- Provide support to Operations in fulfilling legislative requirements and manage compliance support programs, including Backflow and Asbestos initiatives.

- Maintain a comprehensive inventory of compliance programs and provide regular updates to senior management.

- Review specifications and tender documents to ensure alignment with legislative requirements.

- Serve as the Project Manager for compliance-related projects, overseeing site meetings, budget management, and contractor supervision.

- Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols throughout project implementation.

- Facilitate training for staff regarding compliance responsibilities and respond to inquiries related to EHS and project matters.

- Collaborate with governmental agencies as necessary to uphold compliance standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven expertise in facility management and compliance program/project management, typically acquired through relevant education and experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or OACETT (CET/C.Tech) designation is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental compliance regulations and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with building codes, environmental legislation, and health and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in MS Office and CAD software; experience with asset management software is an asset.
  • Valid Class 'G' Driver's License is required.

NOTE

Compliance with health and safety policies and practices is mandatory for this position.
